Leanne Cullen
I am a landscape photographer who cannot get enough of the stunning landscapes of the South Island of New Zealand. This “affliction” dates back many years after visiting the deep South and catching my first glimpse of towering snow covered mountains, pristine clear lakes, cascading rivers, oh and the smooth coloured pebbles! Wandering in the lush green forests accompanied by the birdsong has the immediate effect of calming the soul which is hard to beat.
I wanted to photograph what I was seeing, initially for the memories and to re-ignite the emotion felt at the time. Then, the desire to share those photos with family and friends became something I enjoyed, in the hope that they too would feel a connection to the natural beauty surrounding us. This website is my way of sharing my photography and my passion.
A bit about me
I grew up in Mangawhai Heads in the North Island on a dairy and sheep farm. No mountains nearby but the beach and nature was always close by. I always enjoyed taking photos and would wait with anticipation as the film was processed. My photography journey began in earnest when I purchased a digital camera. Excursions to the South Island became more regular as the yearning could not be ignored.
Fast forward to the present and I have now realised my dream, living in Te Anau in the South Island with my very supportive man. On the doorstep of the Fiordland National Park, surrounded by mountains and lakes, the opportunities for photography are boundless.
Feel free to take a look at my images and I hope that you enjoy them.
